Adrienne, fresh off her first off professionally produced promo, is at the Carnage Arena. Minding her own business, she walks around the pretty empty concourse, hands in her jeans pockets.

It's at this moment that Zephyr Quinn exits her locker room, a confused, but hopeful smile playing across her lips before she puts her earphones in and hops up on a nearby crate, kicking her feet occasionally and putting the openweight title next to her.
Adrienne continued from the concourse, eventually to the backstage area. She hadn't really spent much time walking around. The RC car didn't count. She couldn't control the darn thing anyway. She noticed the eccentric woman, minding her own business, and gave her a wide berth. After all, any good person would recognize that headphones meant that the person wanted to be left their own devices. And even if Adrienne did, she wasn't sure she wanted to bother ... yes, the Openweight Champion anyhow. Her sneaking by to be as quiet as possible probably made her look rather ridiculous if anyone was paying attention.
She froze upon hearing her name. It would be rather cartoony if not considering. Adrienne’s mind rushed with what to do. Run away? Say her name was Lenny and this was mistaken identity. Challenge her for the title despite there being no referee, wait what? Fight ZQ? Gosh maybe the doctor was wrong and she did suffer a concussion.
Adrienne turned, her sneakers squeaking on floor with her hands raised in the air.
“That’s .... me.”
With no threatening movement, she managed to smile or whatever baring her teeth with her mouth upturned was.

Zephyr smiles, not making any sudden movements and quickly picking up on the awkwardness of the new roster member. She hops down off her perch and offers her hand to Adrienne.
Zephyr Quinn: My name is Zephyr. Just wanted to say that I like what you're doing. You don't have to win to have an impact and I can see your time coming soon. Just wanted to let you know that I still believe.

The locker room opens the door and out comes Belle Silva, throwing her hair back into a casual ponytail. She sidles up to Zephyr's side, the openweight champion smiling at her presence and wrapping an arm around Silva's waist.
Belle Silva: Adrienne! I'm happy I ran into you! There's been an opening for Chaos 95 for Beyond the Bell. I know you sent me a message asking to be on the show at some point, any interest in joining me out there next Chaos?
Adrienne, always cautious, nodded graciously. She had spent a lot of her nights huddled up in the covers, studying Carnage Wrestling. From its champions to the contenders. Zephyr Quinn had emerged as a violent force in his company upon her arrival. There was a lot of complicated factors involved but there was this turning point seemingly but the person before her was not the one she'd watched on those videos. Regardless, past actions spoke volumes.
She kept her distance.
"Oh, that."
Adrienne sniffled. Watching that back she was a little embarrassed. She had ugly cried in a bathroom stall throughout the middle of the show, hoping no one would have walked in.
"T-thank you. I don't know what lies ahead for me but I'm really proud to be a part of this. So many other women here like you."
Stumbling verbally, she persisted.
"I mean, lots of great leaders and champions here."
She turned her attention to the woman who had just joined her. Adrienne had seen her the last few shows with the hot interview. Perhaps she would fare better than that other guy. The weird guy.
"Hi, Belle."
Pausing, she pondered her inquiry.
"Sure. I mean, I'm not sure who wants to hear from me but I'd like that."

Loping around the hallways. You'd think he had nothing better to do. The fact is, he likes it around here and it sure beats just hanging around home, where nosy people telling him stuff he didn't want to hear right now could pop in at any moment.
Whistling to himself, he saw someone who he'd very much like to talk to, but she was currently occupied and he had his manners.
Instead, Kohaku hung back, not quite eavesdropping but totally eavesdropping.

Zephyr Quinn: Well, don't want to keep you Adrienne, but I just wanted to let you know you're not alone. When you feel ready, come find me to challenge for this...
She picks up her Openweight title and slings it over her shoulder before giving Adrienne a little wave. Joining Belle, the two head off down the hall.

"You should take her up on that."
Leaning against the wall, Kohaku pulls a piece of green tea Pocky out of a box and munches it down in an almost casual manner.
"Good to see you here, Ms. Levi. You're some crazy amount of resilient- I don't know if I would have made it out of that match in as good a shape as you did. I know you didn't win and I don't want to seem patronizing, but..."
He shrugged, grinned, and offered her a box of the popular Japanese snack, this one strawberry.
"...you really were something. Chalk me up as a believer."
She smiled at him, too. Kohaku Fujihara was another new friend. Along with Silvio Leon, they had both met formally at the previous show. She had explained this at length with her mother who was skeptical. Adrienne was 32 years old and her mother raised an eyebrow at the thought of hanging out with so many "boys". Instinctively, she toyed with her wedding band before reaching out and taking the offer of Pocky.
"Gonna get real fat with all of these treats you two are feeding me."
Biting into it, she giggled to herself.
"But thank you. And thank you for the praise."
Adrienne had learned to never drag down pleasant conversation but she felt a need to clarify. Up until the end, she felt powerless against the Lab Rat King. Her efforts were fruitless and any harm she did seemed to only bolter his strength. It was the stuff of nightmares but then there was this strange paradox. The look in his eyes. The strange little message of choice the day after.
"Like I told Quinn, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I said all of that. Kinda dumb of me."
Post by Kohaku Fujihara =^.^= on Jul 10, 2020 20:28:08 GMT -5
"I don't think it was dumb at all. On the contrary, that sort of raw honesty is refreshing to hear in a place where everyone, by the nature of the game, is trying to puff themselves up and make themselves look bigger and badder than they may actually be."
The vulpine fellow shrugged, and adjusted the brim of his cap, helping himself to another piece of pocky.
"And I wouldn't worry about getting fat. I practically live off pocky and udon and look at me!"
His charm was infectious. And he was so nice. Silvio, too. This was what she insisted when her mother fretted. There were bad people, sure. But they didn't really notice her. These two? They were larger than life. Grand personalities that lit up the room.

"Yup. Me and Silvio, Silvio and I. Personally I couldn't be happier. Have you ever been in the ring with someone and found by almost serendipitous coincidence that your styles, personalities, everything, just clicked? It's fate, it has to be, and I don't intend on letting divine providence slip through my paws."
Divine providence. Heh. Nice choice of words, Ko. You've still got that sword of Damocles hanging over your fuzzy orange noggin. Still have that cat slinking around to remind you that you do.
He looked pensive for just a moment before shaking it off, and he was just as cheerful as ever.
"I hope you plan on watching our grand debut. If nothing else, we'll make it worth watching by being easy on the eyes. By Inari, that boy is a dreamboat."
