The atom-in-ouroboros glows bright red against the darkness, throbbing like a human heartbeat slowly fading out into darkness. The screen is filled with text, written in a strange script - each letter slightly off, words blending into one another, playing optical illusions that conjure up images strange and unsettling.
“UNSEEN FOOTAGE - HAVOC - 09/11/20”
And beneath that
“THE TRUE FACE OF THE FORSAKEN”
The words fade from the screen, and the whole image shifts to footage taken from a security camera at the last episode of Havoc. We are in the corridors backstage, near the catering area. Incubus is seated, sipping a glass of red wine, glancing through a document in a small ring binder. He is battered from his match earlier that night, yet seems calm, his eyes intent and focused.
Suddenly, Incubus is sent toppling backwards as a body collides with him, knocking him to the ground. The figure nails Incubus with a flurry of lefts and rights before rising to his feet. His face is exposed to the camera for a moment, showing it to be Zach Van Owen.
Zach pulls out a roll of duct tape and straps Incubus to one of the catering tables before rushing to the doors, just in time to confront Succubus as she tries to enter the room, drawn by the noise. Zach boots her in the stomach, sending her reeling back, then withdraws a metal bar. He places the bar between the handles of the door, holding them shut, the doors rocking as Succubus hurls herself against them from outside.
Zach returns his attention to Incubus, who now has one hand free, the other coming loose. Zach goes to punch him again but Incubus gets his feet up, kicking the vigilante in the chest. Zach stumbles back and Incubus grabs a knife from the catering table, freeing his free hand. He turns and glares down at Zach with menace in his eyes, advancing on him with the knife.
Zach rolls back and dodges, lashing out with one leg, trying to sweep the Amoralist’s legs out from under him. Incubus jumps, avoiding the blow, and lunges forward with the knife. Zach dodges one way, then the other, before jumping forward and tackling Incubus to the ground with a spear.
Incubus keeps hold of the knife, managing to slash at Zach’s upper arm. Zach screams and hits Incubus with a headbutt, incapacitating him long enough for Zach to throw the knife to one side. Zach nails Incubus with two huge fists and climbs on top of him, arms around his throat. Zach screams at Incubus; subtitles at the bottom of the screen read:
Zach: WHERE ARE THEY?
Incubus smirks, spits in Zach’s face with obvious satisfaction.
Incubus: Fuck you!
Zach gets off Incubus, pulling him to his feet, slapping him across the face. Zach goes to whip him into the wall but Incubus reverses, sending the vigilante crashing painfully into the wall face first, following up with a jump kick against his back that crushes his face and ribs against the concrete.
Incubus spins Zach around, full of fury and contempt. Before Incubus can strike, Zach nails him in the balls and shoves him towards the catering table. Zach scoops Incubus into the air and sends him crashing into the table, glass shattering, knives lacterating the Ouroboros member’s flesh.
The door of the catering room crashes open and the screen is filled with Succubus followed by a horde of Carnage security. She storms towards Zach, striking him with her spiked glove once, twice, three times, his skin peppered with puncture wounds before she is dragged off by security. Security form a solid wall between Incubus and Succubus, and Zach. The image closes in on Incubus. Despite the pain, he appears to be laughing, taunting Zach.
Incubus: Say hi to daddy Vaughn for me, Zachary - OH WAIT!
Incubus laughs as security drag Zach away. We focus on Zach’s face, freeze, and fade out.
In his place is Su. The Messenger, the Amoral Ambassador to Carnage Wrestling. Her face fills the screen, her expression almost smug.
Su: “This is the true face of the Forsaken. So tell me, my dears - who is the hero, and who is the villain?”
