OOC: CD with the ever fabulous Babs! Enjoy!
“Hey, champ!”
The words echoed down one of the backstage hallways at Carnage, accompanied by the sound of someone approaching at a jog. Dressed in his ring gear, Silvio approached Kyra, something in his hand. While he’d been preparing for his own match, 101 seemed to be proving consequential for everyone in his circle of friends. He’d never approached the UV champ before, but she was partnering with Mitch, so that made her someone he wanted to support.
“You got a minute?”
Kyra came into the night with a lot on her mind. Most people, when they saw her coming down the hall, avoided her at all costs. Many of her peers had already figured out that she really wasn’t worth trying to interact with. So she was surprised when she heard a voice calling out for her and even more surprised when she turned to see Silvio Leon approaching her. Lucky for him, she had no reason to want to ignore him so she nodded her head as he got closer.
“I’ve got a few, I guess," she replied, shrugging her shoulders.
Grinning, he gave her a little nod. “I’ve been excited for yours and Mitch’s match since the card went up. I wanted to give you a ‘good luck’ gift if that’s cool.”
Silvio had no doubt the fight would be brutal - UV rules or no. There was clearly a lot of personal history between the combatants. That always added a touch of the vindictive to every strike, every hold. And after watching Kyra’s promo? Whatever else was in store for the evening, Silvio had about 50/50 odds that Jack Michaels would be walking out of the arena under his own power.
Admittedly, Kyra was taken back a bit by the gesture but she didn’t let it show as she eyed Silvio up, trying to figure out what his play was. After a few moments of silence and contemplation, she finally came to the conclusion that he probably wasn’t out for anything malicious.
“I mean, that’s cool. But… Why?” she asked, unable to stop herself from her query. It was no big secret that she wasn't very liked around here.
He blinked, surprised, raising a brow.
“Because I’m rooting for you.”
She shakes her head, confused. “You mean you’re rooting for Mitch, right? I mean come on…”
“Nah! I mean I’m rooting for you. Yeah, I’m rooting for you and Mitch for 101, because you’re a team, but…” He looked thoughtful for a moment before showing her what he was holding. It was a tarot card, but not one that showed up in his readings. It depicted a crowned woman in flowing yellow robes seated on a red throne inscribed with lions. In one hand she held a tall staff that had begun to sprout fresh leaves, and in the other, she held a brilliant yellow sunflower. The desert stretching out behind her, a black cat sat at her feet, golden eyes gazing forward. “The Queen of Wands. She’s fiery, determined, and ambitious; flames, strength, and creativity. Her wand and flower here in the midst of the desert symbolize life enduring in spite of adversity, and the black cat at her feet shows she isn’t afraid of the darker aspects of herself. She accepts them. I thought you two had a lot in common.” Extending the card to Kyra, he smiled. “She’s for you.”
Kyra reached out, hesitant at first, and took the card from Silvio’s hand. Turning her eyes down to the card and taking in all the details of the description he’d given - She found herself at a loss for words. How, how could he describe her so accurately?
“I.. Uh.” She stuttered, finally bringing her eyes back up to meet his, a small smile playing over her lips, “Thanks. I don’t really know what else to say.”
He grinned lopsidedly. “Aw, you don’t have to say anything. Just a spoopy present from Carnage’s spoopiest boi,” he said, wiggling his fingers spoopily. “But seriously - I just figured you might appreciate knowing somebody’s in your corner. You got this.”
Kyra chuckled and tucked the card into her back pocket. “I..I appreciate that. And hey, good luck against Cat tonight.”
“Thanks,” he said, giving her a wink. “I am definitely gonna need it. Can’t wait to see what colors you and Mitch paint the canvas.” Giving her a little salute as he turned on his heel, he smiled. “Don’t be a stranger, Kyra. Survivors gotta stick together.”
