“So you’re Mia?”
Belle stands next to Mia, an awed look on her face as the elevator hums around them. After spilling her coffee, the two women informed the closest employee before heading to the floor above. Mia looks at Belle in the eyes, a certain gleam holding Belle’s gaze. “The one and several, in the flesh.” She winks down at Belle and the reporter blinks, wishing she still had her coffee in her hands. The door dings its way open and the two women step out, Belle leading the way to Zephyr’s room. She was honestly unsure what was about to go down. Entering, Belle softly kisses Zephyr on the top of her head while Mia shuts the door gently behind her. Zephyr’s attention finally goes to Mia, her bright, green eyes shadowed by rage. Even in a hospital bed, Zephyr tenses up, ready for a fight. Belle takes Zephyr by the arm, her hands finding Zephyr’s and squeezing gently. Zephyr relaxes some, her gaze never leaving her sister’s as Mia sits down. Belle’s voice is small as she speaks softly, mostly to Zephyr, “She only wants to talk. I think considering the circumstances, we need to hear her out. Please Zeph…” She squeezes Zephyr’s hand again. Zephyr’s body relaxes fully as Mia smiles.
“First, you need to know that that?” Mia gestures to Zephyr’s jaw, “Wasn’t personal. I was going through some… Mental turbolation and Zeph, I KNOW, The Institute has all the information on me you could possibly want. I know you know what was going on.” Her younger sister shrugs and winces, a look of pain coming over her features before leaving again. Mia nods and continues. “I’m sorry Amelia did what she did. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to stop it happening but you have to know that this is the best possible situation right now… Su came back.”
The anger washes over Zephyr’s face again and a low growl escapes her throat but Mia shakes her head, “That isn’t the concerning part, though as we both know, Su LOVES the sound of her own voice. But… She is also the harbinger of something worse. Of course you know this symbol and what it means…” Mia takes out a picture of the ouroboros with an atom in the middle of it, the symbol that seems to predict the next time Su shows up. “They’re coming Zeph and you KNOW what they’d do in order to find you. Belle has kept the information of this hospital away from public eyes and that’s the best thing she could have done.” Mia nods at Belle, grateful. “I’m doing everything I can to distract them before they can really start looking for you. I need you to be able to fight alongside me and you KNOW that you’ll need to be at 100%. I’m gathering the forces and I swear to you that my goal right now is only to right everything that was… That I’VE done, and move on, hopefully with my sister.”
Mia smiles at Zephyr, a gesture that is simple, but for two people that have committed “monstrous” things against both each other and several other people, they looked incredibly human to Belle. Mia breaks the gaze from Zephyr and gets up to leave. Belle’s eyes go wide as the biggest issue on her mind still hasn’t been addressed. “Mia?” The woman turns, her eyes going straight to Belle’s as a knowing smile flitters across her face. “Yes, Belle?” Mia smiles, knowing what was coming but making Belle say the words.
“What about my… Match?”
Zephyr growls again, a look of pure, unfiltered rage coming over her face. She settles though as Mia once again grins. “I told you not to worry about it. If C$J wants to play games with contracts, then do I have a game changer for him.” She winks at the two before opening the door to leave. “Now you kids have fun and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” Mia winks one more time and taps her head knowingly before exiting and closing the door gently behind her. Belle and Zephyr exchange worried looks but Belle is the first to relax, for the first time in what felt like forever. “She really is frustrating, isn’t she?” Zephyr shrugs her shoulders, turning back her latest work, prose written in calligraphy and addressed to Belle.
