mystifyingoracle, Jon Willis, and 1 more like this

A camera clicks on, nondescript and a blank screen follows with Zephyr Quinn sitting in the foreground. She's done up in what looks to be war paint as she stares into the lens, her voice a simple tone of confidence and what some might describe as "controlled fury."
Zephyr Quinn: Let's be honest here. There's been a lot that has happened since I first debuted in Carnage and beat the now former World Champion. Jack Michaels, or Mick Jackles as he's referred to by some is gone and you either love the fact, or hate and despise it. A new reign of Amber Ryan has ushered in this era of... Such an incredible array of talent. We've gone from shows with a mere four to five matches to a fully stacked card for a go home show before a supershow! Like, look at the progress from spring of last year until now and be amazed at how far we've all come.
But...
She smirks almost in snide contempt. She's gotten good at hiding it though and brings her attention back to the camera.
Zephyr Quinn: Let me go ahead and drop another fact on the general populace. I've been here ever since. Regardless of whether or not Su was by my side or by Boy's side, or wherever she might be now, one fact remains. I. Was. Here. Fighting my way to the stature I have presently. When I show up, people take note and when I'm not there, people make even more of a ruckus. I don't need my name in lights to tell people I'm here, they already fuckin' know it.
I've earned my keep here and let's be honest. There's been a rash of people lately that have come in here and challenged people they feel like they need to drop in order to make a name for themselves. Take Jon Willis who has had an AMAZING start here in Carnage... Until he fell to King and I wasn't able to save his ass from taking the pin. Granted I was lying on the floor unconscious, but I digress. He has it in his head that he can just... Challenge whomever he pleases with no repercussions. Willis came in and compared a bunch of big names from the Carnage roster to action figures and turned a bunch of heads. He comes out a second later and name drops a bunch more, myself included to earn himself, I don't even know, I don't have anything to offer him. But Willis, let me be perfectly clear. You want a piece of me, you know where to find me. Some grand stage to say that you respect me and you want to fight me to gain some sort of feeling of honor isn't necessary. Come to me and actually say, "Hey, fight me." I'll be game, promise.
But what about me, right? I've made it a point to show people that I'm not the monster I used to be at the side of Su. I've found love and as corny as that sounds, the power of that feeling is one that I have nothing to compare to. Granted, there's some issues there, but again, that isn't the point. Life outside that ring is one thing, but I'm here today to build my career and make it MEAN something. Famous people have gone on their death beds shouting that, "to be the best, you have to beat the best." I don't know where I stand in the official rankings, but I think I've proven time and again that I'm here for the long haul and I'm here to become better.
That's why Amber, when you find some free time in that busy schedule of yours, I'd like to challenge you to a match.
She laughs then. A sound that is filled with joy and levity at the thought.
Zephyr Quinn: You've proven yourself to be the best and defended that belt against the toughest in Trent Steel, my partner to rip the tag titles from Catalata Ding Dong and her two stooges. You're defending it against the greasiest of villains in Ken Davison, a man I beat for the Baltimore Championship. A sweet victory and I'm sure I'll get another chance to laugh when you make him eat each and every word of slander he has cast upon you. Amber, you have me firmly in your corner should you ever need me, and truth be told, you've defended that belt from enemies in front and behind you.
I'm not after your title.
Let me be clear, I'm not after your title presently. You keep defending your belt and you keep earning your keep here in Carnage. When the time is right, I'm sure I'll earn a title match against you. Right now though? All I want to do is get better. When I'm done conquering the tag division with Trent and extinguishing Catalina's name in lights; when you're done vanquishing Ken Davison from your presence. I'm going to call you out so I can challenge you face to face, to a match not involving that strap, but just a simple wrestling match to earn respect, to earn a spot on this roster as part of the legacy that Carnage has become and will continue to become.
I want to prove to the world and myself that I can beat you.
I'm not going to attack you from behind. There's no reason to try and catch you off guard, I want you at your best, I want you to see me coming. And I want you to look me in the eyes as I either get one over on you or you beat me to a bloody pulp. But I promise you this, for every time you put me down.
I'll get right back up and learn from each and every mistake. Until then though, I wish you nothing but the best in every single one of your matches both here and afar. Just remember that those other places might command your attention. But there are people here in YOUR home that also are begging for attention as well. Hopefully, see you soon.
With a sigh, Zephyr turns off the camera sending the screen to icy blackness.
