It was a hot summer evening in Clearwater. Adrienne had just finished viewing her opponent's piece and he had made it necessary for her to reply. Sitting on the wood steps leading to her 2nd floor apartment, she held the phone in front of her as steady as she could. She had a laser cat shirt and a pair of jean shorts on. The bruises on her legs from her previous battles were displayed inadvertantly in the shot.
"Hello, Nate. I saw what you had to say. I'd like to do you a huge favor and clear up something for you right away."
Her normal light tone melted away into something a little more stern, "I'll never have anything to do with you."
And then she smiled, the fading sun twinkling in her eyes.
"But your little gimmick wheel has made it so that I am to choose what our match will be."
She pondered that with a tap of the chin, surely an exaggeration.
"I could pick anything. I could pick the most depraved match possible," and then she paused, quirking her head before she resumed, "But that's what you want."
Shaking her head, she had made her decision before she even turned on the camera. But if her friends have taught her anything, being dramatic can be fun.
"I choose ..."
Adrienne imitated a drumroll by tapping on her leg.
"Standard rules."
Adrienne threw her head back in laughter, it'd been a very long time since she had emoted that clearly in public.
"I don't care what you want. I don't care about your death wish. You said a lot of stuff but the gist of it is that you don't think I can hang with you. You paid me a lot of backhanded compliments and said a lot of stuff that honestly made no sense. But overall, you said I couldn't even last fifteen minutes with you. Well, I'm going to show you otherwise. I won't need fifteen minutes. I'm going to pin you in the middle of the ring," her fingers popped up one at a time as she spoke, "one, two, three."
She was about to sign off when she remembered the essential part of her choice.
"And when I do that, your earnings for Chaos 96 are mine."
Adrienne managed to cut off the feed right as she finished this time.
