WrestleStock 2020 had come to an end and now the calm before the tear down work began had descended up UGWC City. Fans had been leaving the area in groups since the end of the World Title match but wrestlers like Nathaniel Grant who had districts to oversee the removal had stayed. Everything had gone better than he could have ever hoped by something he had been asked by a random early in the weekend had stuck with him. So now he stood in the empty ring in the Imperious Sanguine Desertum District with a thoughtful expression on his lips. With a nod to Isabella, who was standing on the ring ropes holding a camera, Nathaniel takes a deep breath before starting to speak.
"Hello there Carnage Faithful. As you can see I am still in the middle of the Arizona desert following Day Four of the WrestleStock 2020 event. By now many of you know that Lucy Wylde won the Finals of the WrestleStock Cup by pinning Centurion. Which by extension means I didn't win a thing this year. Yet, I did win by being in the Finals at all. I may not have won the Cup but I didn't get pinned which in the end is a great feeling. Over all, this whole weekend has recharged my love for the professional wrestling world. To be honest with everything going on with my health and my Carnage career to date I was starting to feel a bit down. I was beginning to wonder if I should have even come back to wrestling. After WrestleStock I know that I did make the right call on that front. During the course of the weekend I had a chance to talk with fans from all over and got asked something very interesting. Why did I choose Carnage Wrestling as the company to make my return to action in?"
Nathaniel pauses reflectively as he lets the question sink in for a moment.
"I will be honest, there were many reasons I chose Carnage Wrestling. Primarily though it came down to the fact that I saw a small company with a talented roster full of people I had never faced. I was drawn to the promise of unknown competition. However, I would be lying if I didn't admit that I saw a company that I could potentially help expand into something more prominent. Or at the very least help Carnage financially. Of course, I have yet to really move on that side of things due to a list of various reasons. Though, to be fair I wanted I to become more established on the roster before offering a bunch of money to the management. After all, I know that would look to an outsider. Which at this point means this, Carnage Wrestling management if you want to speak to me about some funding reach out. As they say the ball is now in your court. Yet, I have digressed from the question of why I joined Carnage Wrestling."
He falls silent with an amused grin on his lips.
"Let's be honest, Carnage Wrestling is home to some rather crazy people. I mean this in the best possible way, really I do. I felt like I would fit right in with the collection of misfits and sanity adjacent people who call Carnage home. Some days I wonder if Carnage purposely goes out to recruit the most broken and traumatized people it can find for its roster. Though that is a whole other topic that is open to speculation based on some of the newly hired talent. However, like I said the whole "escaped mental ward" vibe of the Carnage roster appealed to me. Having been here I while I am left wondering if I just may be the sanest one on the roster. Though that makes me wonder just how does one measure sanity in the professional wrestling world? After all, it has been said that every wrestler is a bit crazy to do this as a living."
As he finishes this bit of commentary Nathaniel just starts to laugh in open amusement for a few seconds.
"Now with that being said, in regards to another question I was asked over the last few days. What is the point of Insidious? Well to be completely honest Insidious is only a way to get people to quit denying that they have a darkside. All too often in this business you have this wrestler come out and say they are the ultimate good guy who can do no wrong. Yet, in the end given enough motivation they become some of the darkest most vile people on the roster. Insidious' sole mission in Carnage is to weed out these so called heroes and make them embrace their inner villain. In the process everyone involved can become more intune with themselves. Chaos 94 saw the first steps in establishing Insidious as a meaningful entity and that will continue in the months to come. However, I will address the future another time once the excitement of WrestleStock has left my system. Until then just know that I will intend to leave Chaos 95 having strengthened not only my position but that of Insidious."
With those words Nathaniel gives a signal for Isabella to end the recording and send it into the Carnage Wrestling website. Once this is done Isabella slides into the ring and comes to give her daddy a hug.
"Thank you Daddy for letting me come to WrestleStock. I had some much fun even with all the hard work that I put in to make it work."
"I am proud of you Izzy. I have heard a lot of great comments about the Imperial Youth Wrestling matches you booked. I know we had some people recording the matches and I will be looking forward to seeing the ones I missed due to have to be elsewhere."
As he speaks Nathaniel returns the hug taking a moment to be mostly alone with his adopted daughter while everyone else was taking a nap or just otherwise being busy elsewhere in the district and expanded city before it started to be torn down.
"Though I am sure you can explain this to me."
Nathaniel says as he pulls an envelope from UGWC management out from his back pocket. On it was Isabella's name. With it is a second envelope that was opened and had his name on it.
"I understand why I got a contract offer but what is this?"
"Daddy before you get upset, I entered myself into the Cross Hemisphere Extravaganza. I didn't qualify for the match though. I know I went behind you back since you were busy but I wanted to see if I could do it."
There is a moment of silence as Nathaniel contemplates how to address what had happened without getting mad about it. He knew that getting upset about it wouldn't solve anything.
"Izzy while I am upset that you went behind my back I understand why you did. Yet, you know we will need to discuss it with your mother before anything official happens as a result. Also even if you are allowed to do this I am going to insist that you have a manager for when I am not able to be around."
Isabella nods her agreement as she takes the envelope and opens it to see that it was in fact an offer for a UGWC contract.
Taming the Bull
Berryman General Store
Berryman, MO
July 16th, 2020
5 PM CDT
It was early evening when a group of bikers pulled into the parking lot of the small middle of nowhere store. As the group comes to a stop the back of their cuts reveal the words "Dark Messiahs" emblazoned over the image of a winged grim reaper. The riders pull off their helmets and the central figure is revealed to be none other than Sah'ta Thor. He gets off his motorcycle and smiles as he shakes his head.
"We will take a stop here for some refreshments and a bathroom break."
The rest of the bikers move towards the store while Nathaniel stands his bike with a thoughtful expression on his face. After a moment he takes his cellphone and props it on his handlebars before stepping back. The patch over his heart reads President.
"Alexa start recording."
There is a few second pause before a red light comes on indicating that recording has begun.
"Greetings Carnage Faithful, welcome to Berryman, MO. I know not the most bustling of places but it has its charm. I decided that after following WrestleStock that I would take the time to ride up for Chaos 95. While I am here taking a breather I figure I might as well address my upcoming match against JD Mohr. A match for a shot at the Baltimore City Championship. Now this feels vaguely familiar to me since back at Isolation we were both part of the Baltimore City Championship Number One Contendership Battle Royale. Sure neither of us won that match BUT I outlasted Mohr as he was eliminated before I was."
Nathaniel taps his chin thoughtfully as he seems to contemplate something.
"Though I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the fact that JD has been part of the Carnage Wrestling locker room for years. Yet, for all of that how have things gone for him in the ring since Isolation. Let's see, Chaos 91 had him beat a random jobber. On Chaos 92 Mohr fell to Trent Steel, a man who faced Angel Ryan at Underground: Redemption. Let's see another win at Chaos 93 for JD against another jobber. Rounding out things is Mohr's loss to Lucy Wylde at Underground: Redemption. All in all a split of two wins and two losses over the course of four bookings. Admittedly this is better than my own record in the same time period. I have only had a pair of matches since Isolation and both ended with losses to Zephyr Quinn and Eli Goode."
There is a pause as Nathaniel grinned in amusement while wetting his lips with the tip of his tongue.
"Of course there is the matter of the Openweight Championship that I have addressed before. In the searching of records I noticed that JD has been part of the roster since 2016 and in that time has won a grand total of Zero championships. Sure he has taken some time in there from what I can tell just by looking at old cards but it is still a fact. In over the four-and-half years this man has had no achievements of not within Carnage. Or at least none that I can find in the records."
After speaking these words Nathaniel starts to laugh in amusement as he again licks his lips.
"I on the other hand have been here since just before Chaos 88. Sure I have only had five matches in that time with only two wins. Yet, just a few days ago I represented Carnage Wrestling at Unified Global Wrestling Coalition's 10th Annual WrestleStock event. By now I am sure all of you have heard how Lucy Wylde won the WrestleStock Open Cup by pinning XWF's Centurion. Yet, before you forget, I was also in that match and I busted my ass off. I wasn't booked for a Chaos 94 match because management knew I had signed up for the WrestleStock Open. Sure I could have done both a Chaos Match then WrestleStock but I am proud of what I accomplished. However, that pride made me realize something, it is time for Insidious to take what we want from Carnage. Starting on Chaos 95 our war for dominance begins. By the end of the night everyone will know that unlike the threats that The Reason made, on behalf of The Empty, have substance. JD Mohr will just be the first casualty in what promises to be a long bloody war. Yet, what the Carnage Roster doesn't know is that Insidious has already won the war that is coming."
With those words Nathaniel reaches over and picks up the phone to pull it close to his face.
"I offer you all one chance to pick a side in the conflict to come. Join Insidious or stand against us. There is no middle ground as eventually everyone will become embroiled in the battles to come. Oh and Mac I hope you are keeping that Baltimore City Championship nice and shiny for me. You have all been warned."
As soon as Nathaniel stops speaking he stops the recording then quickly uploads it to the Carnage Wrestling website. Once he is done he puts his phone away as the rest of his club comes back to their bikes. A couple moments later the Dark Messiah's are back on the road heading towards Baltimore and the Chaos that awaits.
